I had to crop & resize this a lot for tumblr because it’s way too tall to meet the 700px limit— unfortunately to the point where many of the small details were lost, so fullview is recommended. Buuuut woohoo, I’m finally done with this whopper of a painting!
This is a project I’ve been working on for several weeks now, based on what I see whenever I listen to White Winter Hymnal by Fleet Foxes. It’s also the first in which I’ve combined three different media with one another (pencil, digital, watercolor).
Thank you to all of you who provided support and feedback while I was working on this! C:
I HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN WORKING ON THIS A LOT FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS and after a lot of time today doing the flat colors for the fur it’s finally starting to become something somewhat coherent! I’ve still got a ways to go before it’s finished, of course (mainly shading and trying to make the background feel more like part of the piece), so this is just a WIP at the moment
also waw I forgot tumblr only allows pictures to be 700 px tall but it takes about 7 minutes for photoshop to resize this monster so I’m gonna leave it like this for now
I’m really excited to finally be working on something serious again! I haven’t done much as far as that goes lately, and it’s good to be back in the swing of things.
These are just the lines, but this is what I always see whenever I listen to White Winter Hymnal. I know it’s not entirely creative, and I opted to use an actual scarf instead of what I usually imagine to be a cascade of blood and slit throats, but I’m still pretty happy with how it’s come out so far.
